Commerce Minister Chen Deming urged a faster pace in negotiations for a trade pact between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan in a move to lift both sides out of the financial crisis.

He told a press conference during the annual session of the National People's Congress that the mainland will not ask for any restrictions on trade of agricultural products before the negotiations because it understands the current economic condition of Taiwan and knows its trade in agricultural products is a sensitive issue.
