Artificial intelligence is moving ever faster into increasingly complex industrial applications. For manufacturers, the real challenge is no longer whether they have AI, but whether AI can understand complex industrial environments, reliably solve practical problems, and move from pilots to replicable and sustainable large-scale applications that create value.
Siemens believes that the value of industrial AI lies in its ability to enter the real world and create measurable business value. Siemens is driving the deep integration of AI with digital twins, industrial software and automation technology, enabling AI to move from "answering questions" to "executing tasks" and from single-point applications to applications across the entire value chain.
From assistance to execution: Bring industrial AI agents into real engineering operations
In April 2026, Siemens released the world's first AI agent for industrial automation engineering, the Eigen Engineering Agent. It can understand engineering requirements and independently plan, execute and verify complex engineering tasks, including writing automation code, configuring hardware networks and continuously iterating and optimizing. This enables industrial AI to move from decision support to autonomous execution. In July, the Eigen Engineering Agent was officially launched in the Chinese market at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), where it was named a "2026 WAIC SAIL Star".
As of October, Eigen has been adopted by hundreds of Chinese enterprises. In parallel, Siemens introduced Intelligence Center X, industrial AI orchestration software, which consolidates enterprise data, models and workflows in a unified, governable environment and orchestrates AI applications and agents. Eigen brings AI into specific engineering tasks and lets it execute them autonomously, while Intelligence Center X embeds AI capabilities into business processes where they can keep scaling. Together, the two are advancing the deployment of industrial AI.
