2026 World Internet Conference Distinguished Contribution Award recipient: JD.com (Social Contribution)

Founded in 1998, JD.com is a globally recognized supply chain based technology and service provider. It entered e-commerce in 2004 and began developing its own logistics network and expanding its product range in 2007, evolving into a comprehensive e-commerce platform. In May 2014, JD.com was listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market in the United States.

JD.com upholds the values of customer first, innovation, dedication, ownership, gratitude and integrity. With a mission of "Making lives better through technology," it aims to become the world's most trusted company. In the 2026 Fortune Global 500, JD.com ranked 41st, marking its 11th consecutive year on the list and retaining its position as China's highest-ranked private company. It also topped the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce's 2026 list of China's Top 500 Private Enterprises for the fifth consecutive year.

JD.com aligns its growth with national priorities, societal needs and a sustainable future. Beyond improving business efficiency, the company uses digital technology, supply chain capabilities and its platform ecosystem to serve society, improve people's well-being, promote common prosperity and advance the green transition.

JD.com puts its supply chain capabilities to work in national emergencies. In 2008, Richard Liu, founder and chairman of JD.com, directed that when a major disaster occurred anywhere in the country, managers of nearby JD.com warehouses could immediately allocate urgently needed supplies without seeking approval through multiple levels of management. JD.com would then arrange dedicated vehicles for direct delivery. Emergency supply support is not a one-off charitable effort, but a way to turn corporate supply chain capabilities into social resilience and stronger public services.

JD.com invests in rural vitalization and digital development. In 2020, it launched the Benfu Plan for rural vitalization. By the end of 2025, it had established more than 2,000 agricultural specialty product centers, covering 2,336 agricultural industry clusters nationwide, and listed more than five million agricultural specialty products. These efforts helped generate more than one trillion yuan in rural output value and increase the incomes of more than 100 million farmers.

In May 2026, JD.com launched Benfu Plan 2.0, shifting its focus from helping agricultural products reach the market to strengthening the industries behind them. Through sustained investment, JD.com aims to connect more county-level industries, agricultural brands and rural businesses to China's unified national market, giving them greater access to opportunities in the digital economy.

JD.com protects employee rights and fulfills its corporate responsibilities. Guided by its philosophy of "achieving success the right way," it works to ensure employees have access to medical care, compensation for work-related injuries and retirement security. The company signs labor contracts with all regular employees and makes full statutory contributions to China's five social insurance schemes and housing provident fund.

Thousands of frontline employees, including couriers, sorting center workers, transport drivers and loss prevention staff, have retired from JD.com with secure retirement benefits.

The company provides nearly 40 employee benefits covering physical and mental health, daily needs, cultural activities and family well-being. It also offers continuing education opportunities for employees and their families to develop professional skills and broaden their knowledge.

JD.com has provided 28,000 housing units for frontline employees through various programs. Over the next five years, it plans to invest 22 billion yuan to provide an additional 150,000 units under its Homes for Service Workers initiative, building the largest, highest-quality and most extensive housing support system for delivery workers.

JD.com supports public welfare and charitable causes. In 2025, the JD Foundation donated 75.085 million yuan ($11.29 million). Its programs cover disaster relief, child welfare, assistance for people with disabilities, public health and education, turning one-off donations into lasting support networks.

Beyond creating jobs for people with disabilities, JD.com combines public welfare programs with skills training and digital entrepreneurship to strengthen their professional capabilities and expand employment opportunities.

Its Starlight Transmission program has received recognition from the CSR China Education Awards, being named as the Most Publicly Recognized Project of the Year and Outstanding Sustainable Development Project.

JD Health draws on its healthcare services and supply chain strengths to address the needs of people with rare diseases and support maternal and infant health, helping more people access professional care and resources.

JD.com promotes green development and low-carbon supply chains. It applies green practices across warehousing, packaging, transportation and delivery and consumption, using its digital supply chain to drive the wider transition.

Through its Green Stream Initiative, JD.com reduces carbon emissions in transportation, packaging and warehousing. JD Logistics operates more than 14,000 new energy vehicles and has recycled and reused cardboard boxes more than 300 million times. Other measures include reusable insulated boxes, consolidated packaging, reusable turnover boxes, lightweight packaging and biodegradable bags.

JD.com's Green Initiative encourages sustainable consumption through product labeling, reward points and carbon-inclusive incentives. Rather than focusing solely on its own emission reduction goals, JD.com uses its platform and supply chain network to bring brands, merchants, logistics partners and consumers into the green transition.

JD.com invests in technological research and innovation to improve industrial efficiency. By 2025, cumulative research and development investment across the JD.com ecosystem had reached nearly 170 billion yuan.

In 2025, JD.com was the only recipient of the Grand Prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award. In 2026, it became the only Chinese retailer to enter Gartner's Global Supply Chain Top 25 for the third consecutive year, rising significantly in the rankings. This recognition reflects its supply chain capabilities and continued innovation.

JD.com's proprietary JoyAI large language model is deployed in more than 2,000 business scenarios, including customer service, logistics, healthcare, industrial operations, merchant services and shopping.

JD AI Shopping integrates AI-powered shopping and lifestyle services, offering product recommendations, seamless checkout and voice control. It brings AI beyond standalone tools into everyday shopping and business operations.

JD.com is also developing JoyIndustrial, its industrial supply chain large language model, and expanding its real-world applications. By using AI to upgrade production, improve efficiency, and cut costs, the company aims to pass the resulting benefits on to consumers and businesses throughout the supply chain.
