Foreign Minister Wang Yi met separately with senior officials from Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand in Beijing on Tuesday, as they visited China to attend the 11th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

The officials were Myanmar's Minister of National Planning, Investment, and Foreign Economic Relations Aung Kyaw Hoe, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongsavanh Phomvihane, and Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow. The Thai official was also on a working visit to China.

During his meeting with Aung Kyaw Hoe, Wang urged stronger efforts to combat online gambling and telecom fraud, stressing the need to prevent a resurgence of illicit activities in Myawaddy.

He also expressed hope that Myanmar would take concrete measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, institutions, and projects in the country.

Wang said China supports political reconciliation in Myanmar and backs the country's new government in stabilizing the situation, developing the economy, and improving people's livelihoods. He also stressed the importance of advancing key projects under the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor.

Aung Kyaw Hoe pledged closer cooperation with China and other regional countries in combating telecom fraud, while expressing Myanmar's willingness to accelerate economic corridor projects and welcome more Chinese investment.

In his meeting with Thongsavanh, Wang stressed the need to make good use of the Joint Committee for China-Laos Economic Corridor Cooperation, accelerate railway construction, and deepen cooperation in trade and mineral resources.

Wang also briefed the Lao official on the fifth plenary session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee, saying its strategic arrangements would provide strong political guarantees for implementing China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) and advancing Chinese modernization, while creating new opportunities for cooperation with other countries, including Laos.

Thongsavanh expressed Laos' willingness to strengthen exchanges on Party and state governance, and deepen cooperation with China in connectivity, energy, mineral resources, and artificial intelligence. He also pledged closer coordination to combat transnational crime and jointly safeguard ASEAN unity and autonomy, as well as regional peace and stability.

During talks with Sihasak, Wang said China was willing to further open its vast market to Thailand, encourage more Chinese enterprises to invest in the country, and expand cooperation in emerging sectors such as AI, computing centers, and semiconductors.

Wang also urged stronger joint efforts to combat online gambling and telecom fraud, while expressing hope that Thailand would provide a stable and predictable business environment for Chinese enterprises.

Noting the importance of cooperation among neighboring countries, Wang said China was ready to work with Thailand — as co-chairs — to prepare for the fifth Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting.

Sihasak reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to the one-China policy and expressed willingness to deepen cooperation in connectivity, trade, investment, and green transition.
