Foreign Minister Wang Yi will chair the 11th Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Beijing from Tuesday to Wednesday, with discussions expected to focus on charting a new course for LMC 2.0 and exploring new mechanisms for open cooperation.

Beijing hopes to take the meeting as an opportunity to work with the five Mekong countries to build new platforms for industrial innovation and make greater progress in law enforcement and security cooperation, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Monday.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the first LMC Leaders' Meeting.

According to Mao, trade between China and the five Mekong countries — Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam — has exceeded $500 billion, up 150 percent from a decade ago.

The LMC Special Fund has supported over a thousand "small and beautiful" projects, while the "Lancang-Mekong visa" has made people-to-people exchanges more convenient, she noted.
