China sets up National Data Group to develop data resources

China on Tuesday established the National Data Group in Xiong'an New Area in Hebei province, a State-owned central enterprise focused on developing and utilizing data resources.

The company said it aims to unlock the value of data as a production factor, support the development of artificial intelligence and foster a broader data industry ecosystem.

It will help strengthen cooperation between the central government and local authorities by deepening data collaboration, promoting the sharing of capabilities and experience, and advancing joint data business development, it said.

The group also strives to increase the value derived from data resources, strengthen the data industry and improve the broader data ecosystem, it added.
