Canada Goose faces backlash over trash left at filming site
Canada Goose has apologized after a viral social media video showed garbage left behind by a production crew filming an outdoor campaign on a mountain in eastern China's Zhejiang province.
In a statement on Oct 13, the luxury outerwear brand said it was aware of the incident and acknowledged that its contracted production team had failed to properly remove waste after the shoot, harming the surrounding natural environment.
"We sincerely apologize that, after filming concluded, the contracted production team failed to properly clear the leftover waste and had an impact on the surrounding natural environment," the company said.
The incident drew widespread attention Oct 12, when a social media user posted a video showing props, documents, boxed meals and other items scattered across Fuquan Mountain in Ningbo.
Canada Goose said it immediately contacted the production team after learning of the situation. The crew subsequently returned to the site, completed a full cleanup of the affected area and carried out a broader cleanup of the mountain.
To support longer-term environmental protection, the contracted production team, at Canada Goose's request, has committed to sending staff to inspect and clean the area every Saturday from Oct 17, 2026, through Oct 30, 2027. The team will maintain records of the cleanup work.
"Canada Goose attaches great importance to protecting the natural environment," the company said. "We will continue to follow up on the implementation of these measures and further strengthen on-site management and environmental protection requirements for collaborative projects."
