Fishing lights create autumn spectacle on Yunnan's Erhai Lake
The fishing lights on Erhai Lake in the Dali Bai autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, have recently illuminated the water like twinkling stars, drawing numerous tourists.
At sunset, local fishermen deploy nets fitted with lights into the water. By leveraging the fish's attraction to these lights, they efficiently gather schools and capture small invasive species.
This marks the initial phase of the 2026 ecological regulation of fish in Erhai Lake, running from Sept 15 to Oct 8. The initiative aims to restore the lake's ecological functions by optimizing the fish population structure.
These lights play a crucial role in preserving the lake's ecosystem and add a uniquely romantic touch to the autumn landscape. As night descends, they gradually illuminate the water, resembling twinkling stars along the lake's surface.
The second phase of this year's ecological regulation is scheduled to run from Nov 20 to Dec 5, according to local authorities.
