Hong Kong draws 1.6m visitor arrivals during National Day holiday
HONG KONG -- Hong Kong recorded around 1.6 million visitor arrivals during the National Day holiday from Oct 1 to 7, over 1.41 million of which were from the Chinese mainland, surpassing last year's record, official figures showed Thursday.
Chan Kwok-ki, chief secretary for administration of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, said that the holiday featured vibrant activities, with events like the National Day fireworks display and raceday held on Oct 1 proving popular. These two events attracted over 378,000 spectators and nearly 30,000 spectators, respectively.
Meanwhile, Mid-Autumn festivities at Hong Kong's Victoria Park received an enthusiastic response and had their run extended twice, drawing a total of around 730,000 visitors.
