Coast guard exchange program seeks to strengthen China-Vietnam bond

The Second China Coast Guard-Vietnam Coast Guard Program on Party and Political Work opened on Monday in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, aiming to deepen traditional friendship and jointly build maritime peace.

Wang Xiaobing, political commissar of China Coast Guard Nanhai Branch, and Major General Tran Van Hau, political commissar of Vietnam Coast Guard Region 1, attended the opening ceremony. Heads and senior officers of political work, international cooperation, and relevant functional departments from both coast guard services took part in the exchange.

The event represents an important measure for the two countries' coast guard services to strengthen dialogue and communication and deepen practical cooperation. Through in-depth dialogue at the Party and government work level, the event aims to further consolidate the traditional friendship between the Chinese and Vietnamese coast guard forces, explore new pathways for maritime law-enforcement cooperation, and contribute coast guard-specific efforts to building a maritime community with a shared future.

The four-day event will feature in-depth discussions between the Chinese and Vietnamese coast guard delegations and the sharing of Party‑building experience. Both sides will also visit revolutionary historical sites, exhibition halls showcasing the achievements of reform and opening-up, and grassroots coast guard units. They will experience the revolutionary bond between China and Vietnam as well as the pulse of contemporary development.
