The 2026 Global Sustainable Transport Forum will be held in Beijing on Sept 22 and 23, focusing on greener transport, international connectivity, and the use of artificial intelligence, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Organized by the ministry, the forum will examine how to make the movement of people and goods safer, more efficient, and more accessible through international cooperation.

A high-level meeting on the trans-Caspian international transport corridor is also planned, alongside a plenary meeting, a ministerial forum, and thematic discussions, an official from the ministry's international cooperation department said.

Discussions will cover five main areas: practical international cooperation, integrated transport networks, green development, AI-driven transformation, and wider access to transport services.

Participants will explore how better-connected transport networks can support the global economy, how greener transport can advance sustainable development goals, and how AI can help modernize the sector. Making transport services more widely accessible will also be a focus.

The ministry plans to invite government leaders, transport ministers, heads of international organizations, business executives, and scholars, as well as diplomatic representatives and transport officials from Hong Kong and Macao.

The forum aims to strengthen international cooperation on sustainable transport, with discussions addressing current challenges in building affordable, inclusive, and resilient transport systems.
