The 2026 BioShanghai Week opened Thursday in Shanghai, bringing together industry leaders, regulators and international partners to pool global innovation resources and build an open, collaborative biopharmaceutical ecosystem.

Running from Sept 17 to 20 in Zhangjiang, Pudong New Area, the event gathers entrepreneurs, investors, scientists and clinical investigators to tackle critical issues in cutting-edge technologies, commercial translation and enterprise growth.

The program features specialized forums, closed-door seminars, project road shows, and matchmaking sessions, focusing on themes of innovation integration, clinical translation, capital empowerment, and ecosystem services.

"From vaccine rollouts to antibiotic applications, from breakthroughs in gene therapy to the clinical translation of brain-computer interfaces, every step forward in biomedicine expands humanity's understanding of life and its capacity to protect health," Li Zheng, Party secretary of Pudong New Area, said.

After 32 years of sustained development, Zhangjiang has grown into a world-class biomedical center, Li said, noting that the district is now home to more than 4,000 biopharmaceutical enterprises.
