Establishing exclusive groupings or engaging in geopolitical calculations are not conducive to tech development and progress of the Global South, which includes Latin American and Caribbean nations, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Thursday.

It is reported that in a recent media briefing, the United States embassy in Panama introduced a pilot AI supply chain credentialing and provenance platform in the country and said that the project was under evaluation.

Some media commented that the project in essence serves the US' control of tech industrial supply chains and tech blockade of China.

The development of AI bears on the common welfare of humanity, Guo said, adding that all parties should jointly promote the open and inclusive development of AI for good and for all.

China is ready to work with LAC countries and other parties to jointly build a just and equitable global AI governance system and develop AI that benefits people in all countries, he said.
