A delegation from China's People's Liberation Army, led by General Yang Zhibin, commander of the PLA Eastern Theater Command, has attended the 2026 Asia-Pacific Chiefs of Defense Conference in Victoria, Canada.

During an online briefing on Friday, Jiang Bin, a spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, confirmed that General Yang had led a PLA delegation at the conference jointly hosted by the Canadian Armed Forces and the United States Pacific Command from Monday to Wednesday.

According to Jiang, during the conference, the Chinese delegation highlighted China's stance and achievements in maintaining regional peace and stability, while proposing that regional countries step up defense exchanges and pragmatic cooperation to jointly address shared security challenges.

On the sidelines of the conference, the Chinese delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with military representatives from several participating nations, including the US, France, Singapore and other countries.
