PLA's Y-20 transport aircraft takes off to help landslide victims in Shigatse

A Y-20 transport aircraft of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Western Theater Command Air Force took off on Thursday morning for the Xizang autonomous region to join rescue efforts following a mudslide that seriously affected Gyirong county in Shigatse on Wednesday.
The aircraft carried a guidance team from the PLA Western Theater Command, which will organize a joint rescue operation by PLA personnel in Gyirong county, Xinhua News Agency reported.
The mudslide occurred at around 10:30 am on Wednesday on the Nepal side of the border, causing heavy casualties and leaving people missing at Gyirong Port in Gyirong county, Shigatse.
