Guangdong's disaster response office call for intensified flood, wind control efforts

The flood control, drought relief, and typhoon response office in Guangdong has called for intensified flood control and wind prevention efforts from relevant departments, as the province's work in the anti-typhoon field remains at a critical stage.

The office issued a notice on Thursday evening, directing local authorities and relevant departments to ramp up their current flood and wind prevention efforts to fully ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

The coastal province in South China has recently been affected by successive typhoons and frequent rainfall.

The notice calls for a comprehensive risk assessment and rectification of potential hazards, with a focus on geological disaster risk points such as mudslides, mudslides, collapses, and ground subsidence. It also calls for thorough inspections of high-risk areas like slopes, cliff-side construction sites, and mountain flood outlets. Attention is also required for the safety of reservoirs with structural issues, small-scale water projects, aging dikes, vulnerable sections, and water conservancy projects under construction.

The notice emphasizes the need to concentrate on key areas such as highways, national and provincial roads, county roads, rural roads, mountain road bridges, and tunnels near water and cliffs.

It also calls for comprehensive inspections of tourist areas, including mountain scenic spots, rafting sites, rural tourism locations, coastal attractions, and other popular spots.

Special attention should be given to maritime operations, such as fishing ports, boats, rafts, and marine farms, to promptly eliminate risks and ensure the province's safe passage through the flood season.
