Xi attends SCO summit
BISHKEK -- President Xi Jinping attended the 26th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization held in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek on Tuesday.
Xi urges SCO to prioritize development, security
President Xi Jinping on Tuesday called on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to uphold development as a priority, and usher in a future of shared prosperity.
He urged the SCO to prioritize security and foster an environment of universal security, adding that the grouping should put people first and lay a solid foundation for friendship across generations.
Xi also called on the organization to uphold dialogue and consultation, and improve governance in a fair and orderly manner.
Xi calls on SCO to implement major global initiatives
President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that China sees the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a priority area for high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road and implementation of the Global Development Initiative.
Xi said that China is ready to help build the SCO into an important platform for implementing the Global Security Initiative.
China is also willing to work with all parties to implement the Global Civilization Initiative, and supports the SCO in pursuing exemplary cooperation to implement the Global Governance Initiative, Xi added.
