China passes comprehensive healthcare security law

A new law designed to protect the medical rights of individuals, enhance healthcare services, and bolster China's healthcare security system was adopted by lawmakers on Friday.

The healthcare security law was passed by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislative body, as it concluded its latest session on Friday.

The law comprises 57 articles across seven chapters and is set to take effect on Jan 1, 2027.
