Jiangxi governor under investigation for suspected discipline violations

Ye Jianchun, governor of Jiangxi province has been placed under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party discipline and law, China's top anti-graft authorities said Thursday.

Ye is being investigated by the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision, according to a statement issued by the commissions.

Ye, 61, a native of Fujian province, joined the CPC in 1985 and began his career in August 1984, working in the water resources sector for a long time.

He worked at the Shanghai Investigation, Design and Research Institute from 1984 to 2005, becoming president of the institute in 2003.

Ye was appointed head of the Taihu Basin Authority under the Ministry of Water Resources in 2005. He later served as director of the ministry's finance department in 2016 and vice-minister of water resources in 2017.

In 2021, Ye was transferred to Jiangxi as deputy secretary of the CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee. He became governor of the province in 2022.
