Xi congratulates Alamgir on assuming Bangladeshi presidency
BEIJING -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday extended congratulations to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on assuming the office as president of Bangladesh.
In his congratulatory message, Xi noted China and Bangladesh are traditional friendly neighbors.
Xi said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 51 years ago, the two countries have enjoyed mutual respect, treated each other as equals, supported each other on issues of their respective core interests and major concerns, and joined hands on their paths towards modernization.
Bilateral relations have withstood the tests of a rapidly changing international situation, Xi said.
Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Bangladesh relations, and is willing to work with Alamgir to carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen strategic communication, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, deepen exchanges and cooperation in all fields, and guide the building of a China-Bangladesh community with a shared future in the new era to go deeper and more solid, so as to better benefit the two peoples.
