Building next-generation communication networks urged
An executive meeting of the State Council, China's Cabinet, presided over by Premier Li Qiang on Friday called for accelerating the development of next-generation communication networks.
The meeting stressed the need to seize opportunities arising from the latest wave of technological revolution and industrial transformation, pursue application-driven and moderately forward-looking development, and coordinate the construction of different types of networks, so as to strengthen China's competitiveness in the information and communications sector.
The meeting called for innovation-driven and intelligent development, wider adoption of next-generation smart devices, and the cultivation of high-value scenarios such as smart cities and intelligent manufacturing.
It also emphasized the need to protect critical network infrastructure and data security, and improve emergency communications capabilities.
