A key suspect behind the kidnapping and murder of a Chinese citizen in the Philippines is escorted off a plane by police at Beijing Capital International Airport on Monday, after being repatriated from the United States. The suspect was a major culprit in a case in which two individuals — including a Chinese national surnamed Xia — were lured to the Philippines in June 2024, abducted and killed by a criminal gang. He later fled to the US. Chinese police worked with US, Philippine and South Korean authorities, leading to an Interpol Red Notice and the suspect's arrest in the US in October 2024.
