China's first embodied AI training center opens in Shanghai
The nation's first demo center for embodied intelligence training was launched during a forum on Sunday at the 2026 World AI Conference & High-level Meeting on Global AI Governance, which is expected to enable Chinese intelligent humanoid robots to serve the world.
Formally known as the Embodied AI Training Demo Center, it is tasked to leverage real-world scenarios and high-quality data resources to create a role model for embodied intelligence training worldwide.
It was jointly launched by the National and Local Co-built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center and Huawei.
Focusing on key areas, such as multi-dimensional real-world data collection, model training, performance evaluation, and application verification, the collaborative program seeks to transform the center from a single training ground to a platform with complete capabilities ranging from data, models, evaluation, and deployment.
The launch of the demo center at the forum on humanoid robotics and embodied intelligence development is among a series of efforts made by the National and Local Co-built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center to boost the humanoid intelligence industry.
A benchmark pilot-scale service platform to facilitate the complete industry services — including trial production, testing, and scenario verification — was unveiled and announced to be put into operation on Saturday during a forum at the WAIC.
Known as the Shanghai Humanoid Robotics Pilot-Scale Service Platform, it is expected to tackle humanoid robot development bottlenecks, including prototypes deployment, mass production stability, and high testing costs.
Taking up an area of about 6,800 square meters in Shanghai's Pudong New Area, the platform consists of three major function areas — assembly, specialized testing, and intelligent storage — with an annual pilot production capacity of 2,000 robots.
Relentless efforts are expected to promote collaborative development in the humanoid intelligence industry alongside real-world applications, thereby pushing the sector toward development as a complete industrial chain, according to the National and Local Co-Built Humanoid Robotics Innovation Center.
