Community worker remains missing in landslide-hit Chongqing

A community worker remains missing after a deadly landslide struck the Hanjia subdistrict in Pengshui Miao and Tujia autonomous county, Chongqing, while he was helping evacuate residents, sparking concern among his colleagues and local residents.
The man, identified as Gong Baodong, was working with the Shatuo community, where the landslide occurred.
In China, community workers play an important role in grassroots social governance, including promoting policies, collecting information, and connecting residents with Party organizations, government departments and public institutions.
The landslide occurred at around 9:10 am on Friday, killing eight people and leaving 34 others missing as of press time.
