China prosecutes 14,000 individuals over duty-related crimes in H1: SPP

BEIJING -- Procuratorial organs across China prosecuted 14,000 individuals over duty-related crimes in the first half of 2026, an increase of 5.6 percent year on year, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said on Thursday.

During the period, 1,410 people were prosecuted for crimes of bribe-giving, according to data released by the SPP.

Procuratorial organs nationwide prosecuted 58,000 people in the first six months for crimes that undermine the order of the market economy.

Procuratorates prosecuted 4,435 individuals for the smuggling of strategic minerals, and 7,500 for intellectual property infringement crimes, the SPP said.

They also took legal action against crimes in the financial and securities sectors, prosecuting 13,000 people from January to June for financial fraud and offenses disrupting financial management order.
