Xi's development insights applauded in Kyrgyzstan
When Kyrgyz journalist Karaman Siyagul opened the fifth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China, she lingered over the photographs before turning to the text. Some showed President Xi Jinping at major state events and international occasions. Others captured him visiting different parts of China and meeting people.
To Siyagul, the photographs reflected one of the book's central messages: Effective governance requires a deep understanding of social realities and people's livelihoods. That message resonated with her own experience.
During trips to several Chinese provinces in 2025, Siyagul saw firsthand China's focus on improving living standards, advancing education, fostering innovation, promoting balanced regional development and pursuing technological progress.
"Many of the ideas in the fifth volume were no longer abstract concepts, but true reflections of what I had witnessed," she said.
Siyagul shared her observations at a book launch event held in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, on Monday for the fifth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China.
She said the fifth volume can help international readers better understand contemporary China — its approach to governance, development philosophy and strategic priorities, as well as its perspectives on international relations and humanity's future.
The newly published volume brings together Xi's major works from May 2022 to December 2024.
Mo Gaoyi, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and director of the State Council Information Office, said the book serves as an important reference for deepening exchanges between China and Kyrgyzstan on governance and promoting greater synergy between their development strategies.
Noting that accelerating modernization and improving people's well-being are shared goals of both countries, Mo encouraged the two neighbors to uphold a people-centered approach to deliver greater benefits to their peoples, pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation to foster common development, and deepen exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
Roza Otunbayeva, former president of Kyrgyzstan, highlighted Chinese modernization as a key theme of the fifth volume, saying that China's experience shows the importance of long-term planning, policy continuity and development paths rooted in national conditions.
She also pointed to China's eradication of absolute poverty as evidence that poverty can be overcome through clear goals, effective governance and political will.
Otunbayeva said the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity was equally significant in an increasingly interdependent world, where shared challenges require cooperation and mutual respect.
Furthermore, she said that Kyrgyzstan could study the logic behind China's success and adapt practices suitable to its own conditions.
Arslan Koichiev, state secretary of Kyrgyzstan, said that Xi's works on governance offer extensive reflections on Chinese civilization, the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and the profound changes unfolding in today's world. He noted that these ideas have also prompted people in Kyrgyzstan to think more deeply about their own country's future and the future of the world.
In his view, the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity, which appears repeatedly throughout Xi's works, should be understood and interpreted from the perspective of mutual learning among civilizations in the 21st century.
Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov, a former Kyrgyz foreign minister, said the significance of the fifth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China lies not only in presenting the Chinese leader's views, but also in the insights it offers into modern state governance, long-term strategic planning and the development of international cooperation.
He cited the Belt and Road Initiative as an example of how such ideas are translated into practice.
