Chen Liquan, born in 1940 in Nanchong, Sichuan province, is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a researcher at the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Chen has aligned his research with national strategic needs and was recognized for his pioneering contributions to lithium-ion battery research and its industrialization, as well as his pivotal role in establishing China's leading position in next-generation battery technologies.
Over a five-decade academic career, he has pioneered the study of solid-state ionics in China, led the establishment of China's first solid-state ionics laboratory and produced the first domestic all-solid-state lithium metal battery.

Ben De, born in 1938 in Jilin province, is a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a pioneering radar expert at China Electronics Technology Group Corp.
Ben has dedicated his career to advancing China's radar capabilities in alignment with national defense needs. He led the development of China's first large-scale long-range phased array radar and later spearheaded the nation's airborne pulse Doppler fire-control radar.
His breakthroughs extended China's aerial detection range by thousands of kilometers and fundamentally transformed the country's air combat capabilities, laying a robust foundation for modern national defense.
