Giant two-kilogram black bolete mushroom found in Yunnan forest
A villager in Guangshan village of Baoshan, Yunnan province, recently found a gigantic black bolete mushroom in the nearby forest, astonishing the local community.
The wild mushroom weighs two kilograms and has a cap over 36 centimeters wide, resembling a small basin, according to Luo Meiping, an experienced forager.
Luo recalled that she was on a routine trek into the mountains to forage for mushrooms when a glossy, plump mushroom cap caught her eye amid a patch of grass in the forest. She found the bolete to be perfectly intact and carefully extracted it from the soil.
The black bolete is regarded as a delicacy among wild mushrooms, known for its thick flesh and rich aroma. However, wild black boletes are usually no larger than the size of a palm, making it extremely rare for them to grow to several kilograms, according to local authorities.
