BEIJING -- The leading Party members group of China's State Council on July 1 convened a meeting to study the guiding principles of a speech made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at a gathering earlier that day in celebration of the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, as well as Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building.

The meeting was chaired by Premier Li Qiang, who is also secretary of the leading Party members group of the State Council. It was attended by senior State Council officials, including Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang.

The meeting underscored the importance of firmly upholding the CPC leadership, ensuring the effective execution of the Party Central Committee's decisions, and committing to a people-centered approach to development.

The meeting called for redoubling efforts to effectively invest in people, deliver better livelihood services, and facilitate the realization of common prosperity.

It pledged more robust measures and concrete actions to develop a modern industrial system, accelerate high-level self-reliance and strength in science and technology, build a strong domestic market, and deepen reform while expanding high-standard opening-up.

The meeting also emphasized the need to make significant advances in exercising full and rigorous Party self-governance, and to unwaveringly improve Party conduct, build integrity, and combat corruption in government institutions.
