In preparation for the summer demand period, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has completed the first annual maintenance of its Yubei converter station. This effort involved over 2,000 inspection and maintenance tasks, reducing equipment risks and boosting the station's operational reliability, the company said on Saturday.
The station is a critical component of the Hami-Chongqing ±800 kV ultra-high voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission project. Originating from the Balikun Converter Station in Hami, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, this project stretches 2,260 kilometers across Gansu, Shaanxi, and Sichuan provinces to deliver wind and solar power from the Gobi Desert to industrial centers in the southwest.
