Ceramics seen as bridge between China and the world

Mariel Tarela, an Argentine ceramist who took part in a Jingdezhen international residency program in 2024, told China Daily that the city left a deep impression on her, not only for its rich ceramic traditions but also for its open and welcoming atmosphere.

"I met many admirable artisans in the city, and people were very friendly," she said.

"Even when we did not speak the same language, it did not stop us from communicating. In Jingdezhen, ceramics became a medium through which people from different cultures could understand each other," Tarela said.
