Closer China-Singapore cooperation urged
Top legislator Zhao Leji met with Seah Kian Peng, speaker of the Parliament of Singapore, on Friday, calling for closer alignment of development plans and expanded cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, the digital economy, clean energy, and scientific and technological innovation.
Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, said that the NPC is ready to strengthen exchanges with Singapore's parliament, deepen mutual learning in legislative and oversight work, and provide legal safeguards for high-quality China-Singapore cooperation.
Seah, who is leading a delegation visiting China from Monday to Saturday, said that Singapore firmly adheres to the one-China policy and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in various areas while promoting further development in relations between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
Vice-President Han Zheng also met with Seah on Friday, saying that China and Singapore are friendly neighbors and important cooperation partners. Han said that the two sides should strengthen multilateral coordination and jointly advocate for an equal and orderly multipolar world.
