Guangzhou Metro partners with Singapore and Vietnam on rail cooperation
This week, Guangzhou Metro Group is finishing a productive week, having signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Vietnam Railways Corporation on Monday, before signing a second one with Singapore's SMRT Corporation and unveiling a joint innovation laboratory for rail transit on Wednesday.
Under the Singapore agreement, both sides will establish a regular mechanism for experience exchange and personnel cross-training, form joint task teams to tackle common industry challenges, and cooperate on Singapore's complex new line projects.
In the Vietnam development, the agreement is part of concrete measures to implement the cooperation direction for connectivity in transportation infrastructure between the two countries. The cooperation will focus on planning and design, system equipment, engineering construction, operations and maintenance, talent development, and technological innovation.
Both parties aim to enhance collaboration in urban rail transit construction and operations, electrified railway technology, transit-oriented development, and smart railway construction.
By 2035, Hanoi is expected to add seven new urban rail transit lines, totaling about 397.8 kilometers, while Ho Chi Minh City will add six new lines, totaling about 183 kilometers.
