Shanghai hosts internet content creators gala
Hundreds of internet content creators and industry leaders from around the world gathered in Shanghai on Saturday for the 2026 Top Creators Gala, where they explored innovative approaches to telling Chinese and Shanghai stories through digital platforms.
The event opened with a collaborative short film by global creators showcasing Shanghai's open and innovative character. Sun Ganlu, chairman of the Shanghai Writers' Association, shared insights on quality content creation in the digital age.
Popular content creators shared their experiences and presented five key elements of quality digital content spelling "SHARE", which refers to sincerity, height, aesthetics, resonance and evergreen.
A cultural performance on jade plate integrated Yi ethnic songs, vocal techniques and armor restoration crafts demonstrated how traditional arts can find new life through internet platforms.
In July 2025, Shanghai municipality launched several measures to support the creation of high-quality internet content. At Saturday's gala, two new initiatives were unveiled to strengthen the creative ecosystem - the Shanghai internet quality content empowerment plan and the 2026 co-creation plan involving major platforms like Bilibili, rednote and Tencent.
