Miao stated that building a community with a shared future for humanity is a major original idea proposed by President Xi Jinping and the core concept of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy. He noted that the vision serves as the guiding banner of China's diplomacy in the new era, the essential requirement of Chinese modernization, and the overarching principle for building China's independent knowledge system in international relations.

Miao stressed that the center, with the aim of pooling the strengths of universities and research institutions across China to conduct joint research, coordinate key research efforts, and share the outcomes, will focus on the theoretical interpretation of the vision and the development of an independent knowledge system in international relations.

At the opening ceremony, the Domestic Research Cooperation Network for a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity was officially launched, along with the bilingual website of the Research Center on Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity.

The symposium was co-hosted by the Research Center on Building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity and the China National Association for International Studies. More than 150 experts and scholars from over 60 leading domestic universities and research institutions attended the event.
