Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications on Friday.

The princess was received by Xu Mei, Party secretary of BUPT, and Xu Kun, president of BUPT. On behalf of the university, they extended a warm welcome to Sirindhorn and expressed their high respect for her long-standing outstanding contributions to enhancing China-Thailand friendship and promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

The university actively served the country's Belt and Road Initiative, continuously deepening people-to-people exchanges with Thailand in the fields of culture, education, and youth, and steadily strengthening the profound bond of "China and Thailand as one family", they said. The university will take this visit as an important opportunity to further expand cooperation and exchanges with Thai educational institutions in emerging areas such as the digital economy and artificial intelligence.

During her visit, Sirindhorn listened to presentations by two winning student teams from the Digital Economy Promotion Agency's Outstanding Development Opportunity Scholarship summer camp, which showcased their achievements in intelligent agent development. She praised the university's AI-empowered education practices and affirmed the students' accomplishments.

She also toured the university's science and technology achievements exhibition hall, where she learned about BUPT's research progress over its 70-year history, as well as the latest developments in applying AI to education, management, and scientific research.

At the exhibition hall, Sirindhorn wrote the Chinese characters of "zhi chuang wei lai", meaning shaping the future with intelligence, expressing her hope that intelligent technology would foster Sino-Thai cooperation and a better shared future.

In return, BUPT presented the princess with a panda-themed autostereoscopic 3D picture frame, independently developed by the university's faculty team. The giant panda, a symbol of peace and friendship, carries the best wishes of BUPT's faculty and students for the enduring and deepening friendship between the peoples of China and Thailand.
