Mutual support with Uzbekistan on path toward modernization highlighted
China's top political adviser Wang Huning highlighted on Thursday Beijing's readiness to enhance mutual support with Uzbekistan on the path toward modernization, strengthen the alignment of development strategies and jointly safeguard regional and global peace and stability.
During a meeting in Beijing with Sardor Umurzakov, the adviser on special assignments to the president of Uzbekistan, Wang, who is chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, China's top political advisory body, also urged closer interparty exchanges between China and the Central Asian country.
Umurzakov said the Uzbek side adheres to the one-China principle and supports the major initiatives proposed by China, adding that China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) presents new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
Han Zheng meets with South African president, discusses bilateral ties
Vice-President Han Zheng met with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in Cape Town, South Africa, on Wednesday, with both sides pledging to deepen bilateral cooperation and relations.
Han conveyed to Ramaphosa cordial greetings and best wishes from President Xi Jinping. During his visit, Han and South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile will co-chair the 9th plenary session of the China-South Africa Bi-National Commission.
For his part, Ramaphosa asked Han to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to President Xi.
Ramaphosa said that South Africa firmly adheres to the one-China policy. He noted that the South Africa-China partnership is both distinctive and strategic, development-oriented, and has effectively promoted the development and progress of South Africa and Africa as a whole.
