Jingdezhen holds Spring Festival celebration spotlighting opera and folk traditions
A celebration highlighting the cultural depth and contemporary vitality of Spring Festival was held on Monday in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, with a series of activities unfolding in Leping, a county-level city known for its operatic and folk traditions.
It's one of the 2026 national flagship events of the "Our Festivals · Spring Festival" cultural program that showcases Jiangxi's progress in promoting cultural heritage, advancing grassroots cultural practice, and fostering social civility.
Daytime activities featured field visits to villages, historic streets, and community centers. In Datiancun village, the hometown of Shi Linghe, regarded as the "father of Ganju Opera", guests experienced rural folk traditions through opera performances, Spring Festival couplet writing, and demonstrations of traditional food-making skills.
