Senior military officials under investigation: Defense Ministry

China's Central Military Commission Vice-Chairman Zhang Youxia, and CMC member Liu Zhenli are under investigation for suspected serious violation of Party disciplines and laws, a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense said on Saturday afternoon.

Jiang Bin said in a brief statement that the investigation was decided by the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

Zhang is also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. Liu also serves as the chief of staff of the CMC's Joint Staff Department.
