Chongqing's annual red leaf festival attracted over 4.7 million visitors to the area's scenic spots, a record-breaking number that marks a 13.22 percent increase from the previous year, the local culture and tourism committee said recently.
The 19th Yangtze River Three Gorges (Wushan) International Red Leaf Festival ran from November to December in Chongqing's Wushan county.
Some hotels in the county reported an average daily occupancy rate exceeding 80 percent, with more than 270,000 overnight guests. Daily visitor numbers on several outdoor routes surpassed 10,000. For the first time, Wushan's three major scenic areas issued crowd control notices due to high demand.
