Justin Yifu Lin, dean of the Institute of New Structural Economics at Peking University, told China Perspective in a recent exclusive interview that China is expected to step up policy efforts next year to address key bottlenecks in building a unified national market.

He noted that these bottlenecks include local protectionism and barriers to the circulation of goods and the free flow of factors of production.

While China has a super-large domestic market, Lin said fully leveraging that advantage requires organizing production according to regional comparative advantages and systematically removing existing market barriers.
