Beijing seeks closer collaboration with Pacific Island countries
China is ready to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with Pacific Island countries and strengthen the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative and the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent, China's top legislator Zhao Leji said on Tuesday in Beijing during a collective meeting with representatives attending a seminar for Pacific Island legislators.
Zhao, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, noted that China's relations with Pacific Island countries have maintained sound momentum.
He expressed China's willingness to strengthen multi-level and multi-sector exchanges between legislative bodies to provide legal and institutional support for bilateral cooperation.
The visiting Representatives reaffirmed that Pacific Island countries firmly adhere to the one-China principle and voiced their readiness to deepen cooperation with the NPC.
Vice-president pledges to deepen cooperation with Qatar
Vice-President Han Zheng said on Monday that China is ready to deepen cooperation with Qatar in various areas and lift the bilateral strategic partnership to higher levels.
Han, who is in Doha, Qatar's capital, for the Second World Summit for Social Development, made the remarks during a meeting with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
