Xi to meet with visiting king of Spain

President Xi Jinping will meet with King Felipe VI of Spain during the latter's four-day visit to China, which starts on Nov 10.

Premier Li Qiang, and Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Zhao Leji will also meet with King Felipe VI.

The visit is of great significance, as it is the king's first state visit to China since his enthronement in June, 2014, and it is also the first visit by a Spanish king to China in 18 years, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Monday.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership.

Spain is a major country in the European Union and China's important strategic partner in Europe, Mao said, adding that China stands ready to work with Spain and take the visit as an opportunity to further boost bilateral ties.

China, Slovenia vow to deepen cooperation

China and Slovenia have expressed their readiness to deepen exchanges and cooperation across various fields to elevate bilateral ties, as China's top legislator Zhao Leji and top political adviser Wang Huning met respectively on Monday in Beijing with Marko Lotric, president of the National Council of Slovenia.

Zhao, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said the NPC is willing to strengthen exchanges at all levels with the Slovenian legislature, share governance experience, and create a sound legal environment for bilateral cooperation.

Wang, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the CPPCC is ready to deepen mutual learning and exchanges with Slovenia's National Council to help advance bilateral relations to a higher level.

Beijing ready to promote relations with Kuwait

China attaches great importance to China-Kuwait relations and stands ready to promote bilateral practical cooperation in various fields, said Chinese Vice-President Han Zheng, who is visiting the Gulf state.

During his stay from Saturday to Sunday, Han had separate meetings with Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah.
