Israeli army attacks Gaza City: sources

GAZA -- The Israeli army launched attacks on Gaza City on Tuesday, according to Palestinian security and eyewitness sources.

Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had instructed the military to carry out "immediate and powerful" strikes in Gaza, following what Israel said were violations of the ceasefire by Hamas.
