Innovations make high-speed railways play more convenient role
Chinese railway builders are intensifying innovations to make the country's high-speed railways play a bigger and more convenient role in enhancing the flow of passengers and goods.
Builders from China Railway No 4 Engineering Group Co Ltd have diverted a linking section of the 162.58-kilometer Hefei-Anqing High-Speed Railway into Hefei Railway Station to better boost the transport of passengers in Hefei, the provincial capital of Anhui province.
At about 4:40 am on Oct 24, more than 1,000 CREC4 builders completed the job after working continuously for five hours.
The Hefei-Anqing HSR, connecting the two cities in Anhui, is also known as the Hefei-Anqing section of the Beijing-Hong Kong HSR, as well as part of the "Beijing-Hong Kong (Taiwan) transport corridor." In addition, it is also one of the main channels of China's network of "eight vertical and eight horizontal HSR".
Starting construction on Dec 25, 2015, the Hefei-Anqing HSR started operation in December 2020, allowing trains to run at 350 kilometers per hour at nine stations.
