Premier calls for stepping up reform, innovation in standardization work
Premier Li Qiang, who chaired a State Council study session on Wednesday, highlighted the need to step up reform and innovation in standardization work to upgrade the real economy and continuously promote high-quality economic development.
Addressing the meeting, Li said that standards are a fundamental institutional framework crucial for building a modern industrial system and establishing a unified national market. He underscored the need to prioritize the upgrading of standards and accelerate the development of a system of standards that meets the requirements of high-quality development.
While emphasizing the importance of optimizing the supply of standards, Li called for strengthening the implementation of standards by balancing strict supervision with optimized services, establishing a list of mandatory standards implementation, and promoting the use of recommended standards in industrial policies and government procurement.
He also urged enhancing the internationalization of standards, deepening international exchanges and cooperation on standards, and steadily expanding the institutional opening-up.
