Beijing probes subway accident that left one dead
Authorities in Beijing are investigating a subway accident that left one dead and another injured, the Beijing Emergency Management Bureau announced on its website on Thursday.
The accident occurred around 0:47 am on Wednesday, when a road-rail vehicle on the down line of Subway Line 13 collided with an aerial maintenance work vehicle conducting bridge maintenance near Laiguangying Bridge.
In line with relevant regulations, the Beijing work safety committee has taken charge of the case and instructed the Chaoyang district government to form an investigation team, the announcement said.
The committee urged investigators to clarify the cause and course of the accident in a scientific and law-based manner, hold accountable those responsible, and propose targeted rectification and preventive measures to avoid similar incidents.
