New roadmap charts course for modern city building
The Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council, China's Cabinet, released a document on Thursday outlining guidelines for promoting high-quality urban development.
The document sets clear goals for advancing urban growth, aiming for major progress in building modern, people-centered cities.
The release follows China's intensified efforts to advance urban development after key tasks were laid out at the Central Urban Work Conference in July.
According to the document, the construction of modern, people-centered cities is expected to be largely completed by 2035.
Top legislator to lead senior delegation on Vietnam visit
Top legislator Zhao Leji will lead a Party and government delegation to visit Vietnam from Sunday to Tuesday, said Hu Zhaoming, a representative of the International Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Thursday.
Zhao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, will attend events marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day in Vietnam. Zhao will also co-chair the first session of the joint committee between the legislative bodies, Hu said.
The delegation will make the visit at the invitation of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, said Hu.
Vice-premier urges deeper, stronger ties with ADB
Vice-Premier Ding Xuexiang met with a visiting delegation of executive directors for the Asian Development Bank in Beijing on Thursday.
Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that the ADB, as an important multilateral development institution in the Asia-Pacific region, has positively contributed to China's development.
China hopes the ADB will continue to be an active participant in the country's modernization process, Ding said, adding that the nation is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the ADB and expand cooperation areas to better promote China's high-quality development and benefit the entire Asia-Pacific region.
Since the beginning of this year, China's economy has made progress while ensuring stability and demonstrated strong vitality and resilience, Ding said, stressing that China will fully, accurately and comprehensively implement the new development philosophy, consolidate and build on the momentum of economic recovery, and inject more certainty into global development.
