High-speed railway service sees progress
The nation's high-speed railway service in southwestern regions is expecting progress down the line as builders working on the Xi'an-Chongqing High-speed Railway broke ground on another major sub-project. China Railway 24th Bureau Group Corp, a State-owned builder, said recently in a progress report concerning the HSR construction that it has begun building the Xuanhan South Railway Station, in Dazhou, Sichuan province, along the Ankang-Chongqing section of the HSR. The 7,999-square-meter station will serve as a critical node on the 478-kilometer line connecting provincial-level regions of Shaanxi, Sichuan and Chongqing, cutting travel times across western inland regions while boosting rural economies.
Intercity distribution link energized
Power workers are bolstering efforts to build a cross-regional power-sharing system for better electricity supply. A link project between the 10 kilovolt Axu line in Xinyi under Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, and the 10 kV Gounan line in Donghai county under Lianyungang has been completed in the province. Construction began in March, adding a new line extending 800 meters and having three smart switches. Historically, each line belonged to a different utility zone and operated independently. When equipment failed or scheduled maintenance was required, power consumers had to wait, with outages regularly lasting over four hours — disrupting daily life, agricultural irrigation and small-scale manufacturing.
