A food delivery driver recently earned praise on social media for his brave act of stepping in to protect a 14-year-old girl from harassment on a street in Beijing, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The incident occurred when the girl, who was cycling, was deliberately cut off by a man who swerved his bike, forcing her onto traffic where she narrowly avoided being hit. The man continued to aggressively pursue her, physically pulling her off her bicycle, until the delivery driver, Meng Shixiang, stepped forward to shield the girl and firmly rebuke the man until he left.

Meng's act of bravery was captured by roadside surveillance cameras and went viral online. Faced with widespread online praise, the 46-year-old man said, "I just did something insignificant. I didn't think that much about it; I simply couldn't stand by and watch the girl get bullied."

According to media reports, it was not the first time that Meng stepped forward to help others. On a separate occasion, he had rescued a drunken man, late at night, from being hit.
